Fun and Food in Guerneville

Guerneville, California is the epitome of hidden gems. I love heading up and checking it out. The budget deal in California has prompted many Sate Parks to be put on notice. Armstrong National Park is one of those on the chopping block. If you haven’t had a chance to visit I suggest you do it soon! The redwoods are towering and majestic and if you are feeling adventurous there is a road leading into the surrounding wooded loveliness. I could have sworn I saw Sasquatch back yonder a few years ago. Or maybe it was just the fact that I had come from Stumptown Brewery?

On the road to Armstrong, rumor has it, there is a little deli that serves some of the finest biscuits in Nor Cal?! At the corner of River Road and the Armstrong Park turn off there is a little place call Big Bottom Market. Try the smoked salmon biscuit….only served on Saturday and Sunday, from what I hear! Stock up on wine and goodies for an awesome picnic!

Of course, there is the Russian River that serpentines through Guerneville. Wanna cruise down it? Check out Burkes’Canoe Trips. That is a day trip that you will not soon forget! You launch from the Check-in point, cruise the river for about 10 miles and then you stop, they load you up and give you a ride back to your car. No fuss and super fun!

Korbel is just before you get to Guerneville. Stop off and sip some of the oldest Champagne in America. Yes, Champagne….they are grandfathered in to use that term. Aint no sparkling wine at Korbel, baby…it’s Champagne. Take that Frenchie!

Some of the coolest stuff to do in Nor Cal is just 60 miles out of SF. Enjoy!
