Good-bye Ritz-Carlton “Dining Room”

The Dining Room is closing it’s doors on September 15, 2011. The Ritz has decided to scrap the formal dining theme for something more hip and modern. It seems they are going after the hipster doofus crowd by introducing “a lively bar and prominent cocktail program”. That is, after they completely gut and remodel the place. Read $20 martinis.

I have had the pleasure of dining at the “Dining Room” a number of times. I have to say that it has always been a magnificent culinary experience. The meal was like a story and each course read like a chapter in a novel. However, the last time I went there, the food was underwhelming and un-inspired. Perhaps it is time for a change? Or maybe I had read the story one too many times?

I am looking forward to the new venture but am a bit hesitant about the new theme and direction, nevertheless; with Chef Siegal at the helm I will go in with an open mind. Fingers crossed and good luck Chef!
